When Your Child Should get an Orthodontic Evaluation

When Your Child Should get an Orthodontic Evaluation - Kansas City - Weber Orthodontics

According to the American Association of Orthodontists, your children should have an orthodontic evaluation before they are seven years-old. Our experienced orthodontist, Dr. Ashlee Weber, says a child’s molar teeth are usually developed at this age. That makes it possible for her to identify and prevent potential issues like overcrowding teeth or bite misalignment from interfering with their incoming adult teeth as well as jaw growth.

The American Association of Orthodontics also suggests that your child visit an orthodontist if they show any of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Difficulty speaking, chewing, or biting
  • Baby teeth lost very early or late
  • Thumb sucking and other oral habits
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Biting the cheek or roof of the mouth
  • Misaligned, protruding or recessed jaw or teeth
  • Large gaps between the teeth
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Teeth grinding or clenching

Remember, regular dental examinations are a necessary part of your child’s oral health. Dr. Weber offers advanced child orthodontic options that can address an array of conditions.

Please contact our office to schedule an evaluation. The earlier Dr. Weber treats your child, the sooner they can have a more beautiful smile!
